ABOUT THE ROLE

Be part of a team that applies its expertise and knowledge to mechanical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve techniques, procedures, and products and technologies.

As a Senior Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer you will join a research, development and engineering team that develops thermal management solutions to meet customer needs. You will lead the planning and execution of assigned engineering tasks including modeling, simulation, experimental design, and may serve a project manager role for smaller development projects. You will develop the product designs necessary to drive product improvement and will be integral in securing present and future business by consistently meeting or exceeding Voice of Customer requirements. Key focus areas are the development of high heat flux systems and techno economically viable modular thermal energy storage modules.

This role will is located in Boulder City, NV. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the conceptual design of thermal management systems to meet the customer’s size, weight, and power requirements

  • Perform system-level energy simulations to optimize designs and to produce components design requirements

  • Develop first-principles and computational models to design and optimize new products and components

  • Design and build full- and sub- scale experimental systems

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics, or equivalent work experience in mechanical engineering.

  • 3+ years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in modeling of thermal components and systems.

WE VALUE

  • Graduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Knowledge of the trends in high heat flux heat transfer systems, phase change material based thermal energy storage and two-phase flow cooling.

  • Experience in design and build of experimental facilities.

  • Experience in data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.

  • Track record of scientific and technical publications.

  • Excellent understanding of the principles, challenges, and tradeoffs of thermal energy storage systems.
