The role we are looking to fill is for a Director, Paid Search. You will be responsible for leading the SEM team at AMP, and will directly report into the Vice President of Media. You will develop and lead the team in developing best in class strategies and management of Paid Search campaigns. In this role you will collaborate across agency teams to establish the practice in developing integrated media plans and measurement framework for digital-focused plans that cover the entire decision journey. The ideal candidate will bring forth a strong point of view and passion for the client's business and will be a thoughtful decision maker. Must haves include at least 7 years of relevant SEM/PPC strategy and executional experience with a minimum of 4 years of team development and leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 7+ years paid search experience

  • 4+ years team leadership experience

  • Prior experience leading channel strategy, approach and plan development for paid search

  • In-depth experience managing campaigns within Google Ads, and Bing Ads

  • Ecommerce search experience required including experience with Google Shopping Ads, Performance Max campaigns, Google Merchant Center & product feeds

  • Experience managing retail sponsored campaigns on Amazon, Walmart, Target etc

  • Google AdWords certification (Fundamentals & Advanced) Certification required

  • Bonuses:Previous experience managing or mentoring at least 5 people

  • Advanced computer skills, proven proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Google Docs

  • Optimizations product feeds like Feedonomics, GoDataFeed or similar platform

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a leader within client media team and the Media Department at large

  • Inspire creativity, confidence and enthusiasm among team members

  • Create meaningful strategic approach by applying insights around client’s business/brand, the consumer journey and the marketplace

  • Seek out new opportunities, collaborate with analytics team continually optimize for short and long term performance

  • Responsible for consistency and quality of internal plan and budget documents

  • Ensure that plan execution stays on strategy and that cadenced optimization/maintenance occurs

  • Manage and mentor team inclusive of establishing ways of working for Paid Search

  • Active leadership in meetings/brainstorm sessions

  • Direct and manage the team with regards to the daily workflow of all paid search campaigns, including proposal development, campaign activation & maintenance, performance readouts

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and quickly adjusts thinking and actions should the realities of a situation shift 

  • Immerses self in clients' business: understanding their goals, external economic environment, industries; also know their business model, how it is performing and what success looks like

  • Ensure best practice and innovation in all search activities; ensure knowledge sharing across teams

  • Liaise with other media teams to share and learn strategies internally to ensure the innovative ideas/new tactics and strategies are always considered

  • An active participant in refining and enhancing the Media Department’s contribution to the advancement of AMP’s current and future clients

  • Contribute to new business development and pitches when required

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables.

  • Assume responsibility for the growth and vitality of the company’s media practice and of your clients’ business.

  • Develop and/or approve direction of RFPs that lead publishers in devising innovative approaches to meeting campaign objectives and delivering value.

  • Ensure accurate record keeping and finances on all accounts.

  • Work with cross-functional departments to ensure flawless execution.

  • Review final reconciliation of campaign and authorize client refunds if appropriate.

  • Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

Indirect Reports

  • May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

  • Travel is an essential duty and function of this job. Driving is not an essential duty or function of this job.

  • Travel up to 30%

Minimum Qualifications

The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level: (Required): Bachelor's Degree

Field of Study/Area of Experience:

8+ years of experience in Media at an agency

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of both awareness and performance digital media channels and strategies, including display, mobile, video, paid search, programmatic and social media

  • Previous success in the planning, development and management of digital media campaigns for brands or products

  • Experience with DoubleClick and other 3rd party tracking solutions preferred

  • Experience with the following technology platforms preferred (Self-Serve Programmatic DSPs, DFA, Facebook UI/FBX)

  • Ability to analyze data and deeply understanding of measurement practices, 3rd party measurement companies and web analytics

  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines while juggling multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proven client service orientation with strong written and verbal communication skills, including effective presentation skills

  • Ability to consistently perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment as an individual on a team

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills

  • Demonstrated interest in keeping up with emerging technologies and digital marketing trends

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
