A Design Engineer in the Bethel, CT area is needed for a multinational power management company. The Design Engineer for pressure transducers/sensors will support both sustaining and new product development through CAD-based design, analysis, and project management, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.

responsibilities:

  • Product design layout, modeling, and drawing creation

  • Substantiate design decisions with analysis, trade studies, and legacy product similarities

  • Phase-Gate product development for concept development, design, validation, production, and delivery

  • Sustaining product support for mechanical and electrical product lines

  • Explore alternative design approaches and processes

  • Consider market trends and best practices

Essential Functions:

  • Provide engineering solutions meeting customer performance, interface, reliability, cost, and schedule requirements

  • Understand and mechanical, electro-mechanical systems, and robust design methods

  • Establish technical requirements for fabricated and procured components

  • Perform mechanical design tasks for various components

  • Optimize designs with manufacturing and external suppliers

  • Collaborate with internal teams for structural, thermal, and fluid dynamics analyses

  • Communicate effectively with customers about drawings, engineering analyses, and manufacturing processes

  • Develop Compliance Matrices against customer specifications and drawings

  • Manage and release drawings, models, and documentation through product lifecycle management

  • Develop and support design verification and validation testing plans

  • Implement product improvement and cost reduction initiatives

  • Perform failure investigations for field, production, and development/certification hardware

  • Support sales and marketing in proposal generation and customer inquiries

  • Design fluid flow products and fixtures based on fluid mechanics concepts

  • Oversee design, build, and testing of engineering prototypes

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in mechanical design or project engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with pressure sensor/transducer design

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or medical device industries

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification
