EMCOR Group Welder in Beaumont, Texas

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to comprehend instructions from supervisors and/or co-workers.

  • Must pass pre-employment welding examination

  • Possess and apply knowledge of welding techniques

  • Should possess qualifications for all welding techniques, SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW

  • Communicates verbally/effectively in English with supervisors and co-workers for resolution of any questions that may arise regarding safety, job conduct, or product quality control

  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints as well as the translation of that information into the finished product

  • Should possess layout and fit-up practices and procedures

  • Cuts as needed to remove internal tubes.

  • Cuts shells as necessary to retube bundles

  • Welds shells back together

  • Repairs exchanger parts, tube sheets, channel heads and covers

  • Installs nozzles.

  • Make welds meeting x-ray quality as required

  • Performs oxy/acetylene cutting

  • Performs grinding as needed

  • Operates vehicles and power tools when authorized and qualified to do so and in accordance with established company rules and work orders

  • Cleans up work area and equipment after work is completed

  • Complies with all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the company

  • Must be able to work, when necessary, plus reasonable overtime day or night and/or weekends

Marginal Job Functions:

  • Measures and directs the fitting of shell assemblies

  • Aids crane operator by visual and voice signals when parts/assemblies are being positioned or lifted.

  • Perform various QC duties

  • Use broom and other cleaning equipment to maintain the work area in a clean, orderly environment.

  • Assists in the tool room with documentation, record keeping, and answering employee questions

  • Assists in handing out welding rods/equipment and record keeping

  • Shipping and receiving material record keeping

  • Company reserves the right to assign jobs and tasks not specified above

Equipment/Clothing Used to Perform Job:

  • Protective Equipment: Gloves, safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection and respiratory protection (Welding Fume Respirator) welding hood, face shield, cutting glasses and goggles as required.

  • Assorted long and short handled tools

  • Various power tools including grinders

  • Weld machines and cutting stations

  • Powered industrial trucks and mechanical lift equipment including overhead crane and bottle dollies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Two to four years of related experience

  • Knowledge of machining practices

  • Must possess basic math skills

  • Must be able to read and interpret simple measuring devices

  • Must be able to read and write English

  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time

  • Must be able to bend, push, pull, twist, squat, crawl, lift and climb

  • Requires the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds

Working Conditions:

  • Will work in heat, noisy, dusty, dirty, cold environment

  • May be exposed to chemicals and pinching hazards
