As a Value Chain Designer , you will report to the Value Chain Engineering Manager and will be primarily responsible for ensuring linkage between product value stream teams, and end-to-end value chains, including process planning and execution to meet or exceed customer order to delivery market requirements while improving the business’ Operating Profit after Capital Charge (OPACC). As a member of the Value Chain Engineering team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:

  • Perform detailed value stream network modeling / optimization with cost focus, which will be used to support value chain performance project management.

  • Serves as subject matter expert (SME) on value stream modeling and design.

  • Influence other members of the value chain design team to help to identify OIA (OPACC Improvement Agenda) opportunities, solve problems and resolve model feasibility gaps.

  • Posting, publishing and presenting, cost modeling (value chain cost build ups) results into relevant and insightful Business information, visuals, and actionable business cases, and OIAs.

  • Influence business and operational decisions of both internal and external value chain partners, by providing data-backed proposals to drive continuous improvements across the overall value stream.

  • Provide support and is capable to coach value chain teams responsible for the management of end-to-end value stream functions in alignment with customer Order-to-Delivery requirements, and provides coaching to line organizations to employ standard value stream processes.

  • Accountable to maintain deep expertise in network modeling processes, platforms and techniques for the Enterprise.

  • Responsible for working to maintain and strengthen communications and alignment between logistics and manufacturing activities, as well as driving collaboration between all members of the enterprise value chain network.

  • Identifies and supports value chain performance improvements, including quality and delivery performance improvements and the supplier S&OP process.

  • Work closely with relevant functional areas, such as purchasing, interplants, design control groups, NPI leads to drive value chain cost optimization.

What Skills you will have:

  • Business Process Design : Extensive experience in the value stream. Knowledge of various engineering, manufacturing, and/or maintenance standards. Knowledge of business process design; ability to develop appropriate techniques to re-examine key processes and focus on optimizing organizational performance.

  • Business Process Improvement : Knowledge of business process improvement best practices and ability to use methods for identifying, evaluating, introducing, and implementing more efficient approaches to performing business-related activities.

  • Process Management : Extensive experience in cost modeling, cost management/optimization, LCP project at a product level Network Modeling experience using in-house or commercial tools. Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.

  • Analytical Thinking : Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Access databases or other Database software. Advanced statistics understanding, especially related to demand variability and multi-echelon process variability.

  • Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Process Mapping/Flowcharting : Knowledge of the concepts of process mapping; ability to carry out the documentation of current and proposed manufacturing processes to identify and make improvements.

  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) : Knowledge of the concepts, principles and techniques of root cause analysis (RCA); ability to use a structured approach to identify the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences.

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Advanced Degree in Operations Research, Engineering, Value Stream, Industrial Engineering or related quantitative field.

  • Knowledge of Caterpillar's product structure and ability to visualize the network.

  • Ability to ramp up quickly within a new environment.

  • APICS CSCP National Certification.

  • Previous experience with data visualization software like Tableau.

The working location for this position is Batam, Indonesia.

Domestic relocation assistance is available.

This position may require 25 % travel.
