Job Overview:

The Structural Engineer applies their conceptual knowledge of Structural (Eng) and with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward Structural (Eng) problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures, as well as building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Structural Engineer understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations through analysis of possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve accurate and detailed structural shop drawings using 2D computer-aided design (CAD) and/or other detailing software for fabrication.

  • Review and approve red line markup drawing for as built.

  • Raise Site Query Sheet (SQS) related with design drawing i.e., clash in design model/drawing, discrepancy, clarification to design engineering.

  • Raise revision/change order for any work performed which are outside the original scope.

  • Review and maintain progress, workhours booking, and productivity for structural discipline.

  • Monitor SQS or change register to ensure all changes are tracked properly.

  • Collaborate closely with production engineer, shop engineer, PMT, design engineering, or other detailing engineer in developing structural shop drawings, ensuring compliance with design drawings, specifications, and fabrication requirements.

  • Prepare, and review weight change report.

  • Coordinate with lead engineer, to resolve technical issues.

  • Conduct regular self-inspections and quality checks to verify adherence to design drawings and structural codes.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to structural drafting and design.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives existing processes.

  • Prepare project procedure related with detailing engineering.

  • Prepare and review workforce plan and forecast based on project schedule and actual progress.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Min. bachelor’s degree in offshore/ocean engineering, naval architecture, civil engineering or a similar filed is preferred.

  • Min. 3 years of experience as a drafting engineer or similar role in the fabrication industry.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer is preferred.

  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of technical drawing.

  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes for drafting.

  • Familiarity with 3D viewer such as Trimble Connect, Navisworks Freedom, etc., would be an advantage.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.

  • Good teamwork abilities to collaborate with drafting team.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills to identify and address technical challenges in developing technical drawings.

  • Proactive, willing to learn, and commitment to work with good performance to maintain productivity, quality, and safety.
