Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical engineering & provide technical direction for mechanical design efforts to develop innovative CM&U upgrade solutions for steam turbine packages that improve performance, reliability, availability & maintainability for installed base.

  • Lead mechanical design for CM&U solutions associated with auxiliary systems for steam turbines.

  • Work closely with NPI engineering teams to leverage new technology and develop CM&U products to build pipeline.

  • Ensure design functionality, safety and integrity and compliance with appropriate Codes and Design Practices.

  • Provide technical direction and co-ordination of the associated design engineering team (internal and global) and making critical decisions about designs.

  • Read, interpret, and develop pressure / flow and instrumentation diagrams, piping assembly and fabrication drawings, as well as work with 3D parametric models.

  • Conduct design reviews with chief engineering office as required.

  • Collaborate with cross disciplinary functions like CADD, Electrical, Controls, Systems, suppliers, field core Specialist teams to execute projects.

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Should have served as primary interface with customers and have demonstrated the implementation of design requirements, design changes, analysis, and verification of each task.

  • Coordinate project tasks and schedules.

  • Planning the tasks, executing, and delivering on time, with cost effective and quality.

  • Provide support for both internal and external customers.

  • Provide start up, commissioning, troubleshooting support for OTR projects.

  • Maintain standard BOMs / drawings by incorporating recent lessons learned and keeping it up to date.

  • Support site surveys and customer meetings.

  • Manage the engineering OTR projects through engineering partners with focus on scope, costs, schedules, quality, and risks, plus the product cost & reliability.

  • Maintain first time quality metrics for the projects.

Required Skills (Technical Competency):

  • Experience in Steam Turbines systems and both Gas turbine and Steam Turbine Generators and their accessories.

  • Knowledge of Combine Cycle Power Plants, Accessories and Auxiliary systems such as steam systems (Main, reheat, admission and extraction), oil systems (Lube, Seal and hydraulic), etc.

  • Experience in reading and developing Schematics (P&IDs), Skids, Piping /Tubing, General Arrangements, Structural drawings, and technical Specifications.

  • Experience in Process engineering, Equipment’s, valve sizing and its actuation technologies for Steam turbine and generator accessories.

  • Experience in Piping design, pipe selection, pipe sizing, pressure drop calculations etc. as per (ANSI/ASME/ISO).

  • Experience in piping stress analysis, developing isometric drawings, BOM extraction, pipe anchoring and support detail Fabrication with knowledge of welding standards like AWS.

  • Experience in visual interpretation of field drawings with engineering drawing.

  • Experience in developing Device Summary (Instrumentation), electrical load list, Creation and Modification as per the project need.

  • Basic experience in instruments function, electrical systems, and its interfaces to the mechanical systems.

  • Knowledge of Engineering Change Management process (CO/CA) for Releasing Drawing/BOM in PLM such as ENOVIA.

  • Good knowledge on mechanical concepts like thermal engineering and fluid mechanics.

  • Tools experience: AutoCAD, NX, PLM or similar

Non-Technical Skills:

  • Good communication skills - Both Written and Spoken.

  • Ability to quickly learn and execute with minimum hand hold.
