Maryland Transportation Authority Project Scheduling Manager (Transportation Engineering Manager I) in Baltimore, Maryland

This is aposition-specific recruitmentand is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications* listed below.The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) position/function only. The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes, across the State of Maryland. Nature of Work: The Project Scheduling Manager is responsible for managing the Scheduling Program in the Division of Construction, Office of Engineering and Construction (OEC). The employee is responsible for supervising consultant work product and performance for all schedule analysis, reporting and progress evaluation. This position acts as an advisor to all OEC Area Engineers and Project Managers on MDTA policies, procedures, and industry recognized best practices for scheduling.

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervise project scheduling consultant contractors for all MDTA construction projects;
  • Schedule and conduct joint meetings between contractors, engineers, and project review consultants;
  • Review the algorithm and methodology for scheduling a set of project activities;
  • Update project schedule of record progress each month based on monthly field updates;
  • Examine and evaluate the critical path in the project schedule to determine the end date in project schedule;
  • Create an Activities Chart (AC) Project Schedule based on contractors submittal and written narrative;
  • Examine and evaluate Activities Chart Project Schedule to determine the correctness and end date of the project schedule; and
  • Review and track MDTA construction projects financial status in order to provide quarterly statistical reports.

Employees in this position will report directly to theDeputy Director of Construction. The current vacancy exists in Baltimore, MD.Hybrid telework schedules may be available for this position. Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in professional engineering.**Two (2) years of this experience must include reviewing Critical Path Method schedules for large-scale and/or mega construction projects. (e.g. $50 million to $1 billion projects involving both public and private stakeholders)

Notes: 1. Additional work experience in professional engineering, or in technical engineering at the journey level or above, may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education. 2. Possession of a Master's Degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the non-supervisory experience. 3. Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.

Licenses and Certifications
  1. Employees in this class may be required to possess a Professional Engineer, Land Surveyor, or Property Line Surveyor License.
  2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
