POSITION SUMMARY:

Infection Control Nurse (RN) : Administer the Infection Control Program as it applies to patients, employees, and visitors to the hospital. Provides for employee safety and well-being.

Job Duties/Resposibilities:

  • Coordinate the program of infection control, prevention, and surveillance as approved by the Infection Control Committee.

  • Authorized to institute infection control measures deemed necessary when there is reasonably felt to be a danger to patients, personnel or visitors until such time as advice can be obtained from the physician member of the Infection Control Committee.

  • Tracks and works in conjunction with unit physicians and nurses to assure compliance with the Texas Department of State Health Services standards, OSHA requirements, JACHO standards.

  • Track employee illness for infection control purposes.

  • To assess patient care and need for consultation.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Documented evidence of Infection Control training

    LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION:

    Required: Current Texas State Registered Nurse License

    Certification in Infection Control or Occupational Health

    EXPERIENCE: Preferred: One year psychiatric nursing experience.
