Collaborate with requester to establish an art direction and use a wide variety of design software to achieve a final result. Incorporate current design trends and modern communication tools across a diverse catalog of materials including forms, brochures, certificates, booklets, training books, safety and recruiting literature, charts, posters, maps, and other various printed materials. Devoted to outstanding customer service and committed to the highest level of attention to detail with a passion for converting ideas into art. Designing predominately with Apple-based computer hardware and Adobe Creative Cloud software with occasional utilization of Windows-based hardware and Microsoft Office Software. Working under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Participates in the planning, development, and design of graphic materials to meet Agency communication needs. 2. Responds to design requests by meeting with stakeholders to determine needs and desired results and plan a course of action. 3. Educates customers on technical aspects regarding various elements of the design process. 4. Presents mockups, proofs, and samples to requesters for approval at various stages of the design process. 5. Consults with departmental staff members on the most effective means for job completion. 6. Maintains all designs and associated files in an organized manner for subsequent usage. 7. Reports design and production progress on a regular interval to the area supervisor. 8. Operates Adobe Creative Cloud Software applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro 9. May operate Microsoft Office Software including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.. 10. Creates simple fillable PDF forms using Adobe Acrobat Pro. 11. Develops and prepare print-ready artwork for external production. 12. May participate in the production of finished goods. 13. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours following agency leave and attendance policies. 14. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS: Education Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent, plus one year of training in a full-time accredited program with an emphasis in graphic design or a related field. Experience Minimum of one (1) year full time work experience in some phase of graphic design is preferred. Substitution Note: Additional work experience of the type described, or other related education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis. Licensure and/or Certification If driving is required, must possess a valid driver license from state of residence. Regulatory knowledge Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Interpersonal Skills Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers. Organizational and Prioritization Skills Must be organized, flexible, and able to effectively prioritize in a multi-demand and constantly changing environment; able to meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy, timeliness or professionalism. Presentation/Communication Skills Must be able to construct and deliver clear, concise, and professional presentations to a variety of audiences and/or individuals. Research and Comprehension Must demonstrate ability to quickly and efficiently access relevant information and be able to utilize and/or present research and conclusions in a clear and concise manner. Analytical Reasoning/Attention to Detail Must demonstrate an ability to examine data/information, discern variations/similarities, and be able to identify trends, relationships and causal factors, as well as grasp issues, draw accurate conclusions, and solve problems regarding the conception of ideas for graphic arts projects. Technology(computers/hardware/software/operating systems) Must possess appropriate levels of proficiency with utilizing a variety of standard and specialized graphic arts software (Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office), as well as standard office and print production related equipment including laser printers, scanners, disk drives and file storage. Graphic Skills Must possess appropriate levels of proficiency to research and apply creativity to graphic design projects, and to lay out artistic products with appropriate elements of creative design, style, continuity, and color. Ability to conceptualize graphic design needs from rough sketches, oral instructions, and/or written notes is required. Confidentiality and Protected Information Must demonstrate an ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information and situations and adhere to applicable laws/statutes/policies related to access, maintenance and dissemination of information. Safety Must be able to work in safe manner at all times, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks, and must be able to comply with safety standards and best practices. Travel and/or Schedule Availability for after-hour and weekend work may be required.
