Nexteer Automotive Director, Global Sales (2024) in Auburn Hills, Michigan

JOB TITLE: Director, Global Sales

The Director, Global Sales leads all global commercial efforts for a specific customer, leading cross-functional teams to achieve strategic sales goals and playing an integral role in the future growth of the company.

The selected person will implement global sales strategies; ensuring that the global customer increases sales, margins, market share and customer satisfaction. They are responsible to manage the global sales team, adapt and implement sales support strategies for designated areas aligned with the company's strategic priorities, and ensure technical and commercial support for both internal and external customers.

This position reports directly to the NA Regional Sales Director . They are responsible to align and communicate decisions across divisions, functions and product lines and drive implementation of key corporate priorities and initiatives. The position is located at Nexteer’s Corporate Headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI, but should expect frequent travel to the US Technical Center in Saginaw, MI as well as global travel throughout the year.

R ESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Executes global business unit sales strategies. Ensures Business Unit sales strategy is implemented in the markets by local sales units.

  • Defines market potential by analyzing market surveys and sales statistics; estimating volume and profit potential; preparing sales forecasts.

  • Defines key sales targets (e.g., volume, prices, portfolio mix, channel, and market coverage) and establishes appropriate metrics and measurement tools to monitor performance.

  • Builds an effective, capable and high performing team. Develops talent, appoints managers and reviews effectiveness.

  • Oversees the preparation of proposals through internal and external resources. Ensures all proposals follow relevant company procedures and guidelines as well as legal requirements.

  • Understands customer needs in the market by visiting customers. Develops and implements product support and product training to ensure high customer satisfaction in cooperation with Product Management and global Business Unit Marketing and Sales.

  • Supports continuous improvement and the execution of customer satisfaction surveys. Analyzes results and assists with corrective actions as necessary. Ensures appropriate approach to global /regional accounts.

  • Develops & implements business plans and strategies to increase sales units and revenue according to company policies and programs.

  • Establishes strategies & plans to prospect new business by expanding customer portfolio.

  • Advises and coaches others with proposals, presentations and skills development when necessary.

  • Obtains current market information and trends, maintaining awareness of competition.

  • Supports in the development of marketing plans.

  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines.

  • Demonstrates the ability to recovery friction impacts, balancing the customer relationship, and securing key strategic bookings.

    EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15+ years of in progressively responsible leadership roles within a multinational Company with examples of demonstrated excellence.

  • Ideally, experience is broad-based within a benchmarked, highly recognized company within automotive, technology, or manufacturing industry.

  • 10 + years of direct management responsibility of sales or marketing functions preferred.

  • Experience in Client Relationships, Contract Negotiation, Operational Excellence, Prospecting Skills, Meeting Sales Goals, and Sales Planning.

  • General Motors, Tier 2, and Adjacent Market experience preferred.

    EDUCATION AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering with MBA preferred.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong business and financial acumen.

  • High energy level, creativity, and the ability to motivate others.

  • Strong relationship and negotiation skills.

  • Conversant with MS Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel to prepare reports, perform analyses and prepare presentations as needed.
