Sr Buyer

Job Description:

The Senior Global Buyer performs and coordinates the global procurement of raw material for specific product lines to meet master schedule and customer order requirements.

This position is mainly responsible for strategic purchasing of raw material to optimize inventory management.

1. Works closely with Supply Planning to place Purchase Orders and reschedule raw material to meet production plan and optimize inventory.

2. Establishes and maintains supplier relations and partnerships

3. Must be able to collect, analyze and interpret manufacturing data to make decisions that may impact production, staff or processes

4. Identifies and implements cost savings/cost avoidance opportunities

5. Reviews and processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders while implementing procurement strategies, policies and procedures, while successfully managing risks

6. Serves as the key point of contact for authorized requesters, managers and suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve purchase requisition and purchase order issues

7. Must be able to prioritize own assignments, while focusing on key tasks despite limited time and resources

8. Resolves quality, pricing and delivery issues with suppliers

9. Interfaces with Accounts Payable and internal customers to resolve invoice and receiving discrepancies

10. Must possess the ability to maintain projects and critical tasks progressing when delays or problems occur

11. Accepts the responsibility of a leadership role in improving processes

12. Works under minimal supervision while assisting less experienced peers

13. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

1. Strong Knowledge of ERP/MRP Systems, BOM and planning skills

2. Tactical experience with lean principles, supply chain management including material flow and delivery applications

3. Must have a good understanding of manufacturing, purchasing, scheduling and planning processes

4. Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiating skills

5. Knowledge of medical device associated supply base a plus

6. Experience with developing & implementing ordering policies

7. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills to build and enhance solid working relationships that promote collaboration and cooperation with all levels of the company and suppliers

8. Must be able to problem solve and think independently in a constantly changing production environment

9. Possesses sound judgment and exceptional time management skills

10. Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Access and Outlook

11. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of five years relevant experience

12. Experience using SAP or related MRP system required

13. Medical device manufacturing experience preferred

14. APICS or other industry certification(s) a plus
