Leads multiple Department survey parties and oversees contracted survey parties in a district for the purpose of determining boundaries and topography of real property. Oversees the compilation, update and maintenance of real property maps; provides analysis and technical assistance, support, coordination and advice for the development, implementation and maintenance of land surveying-related information technology/systems (IT/IS) and applications to include global positioning and geographic information systems (GPS/GIS). Serves as project lead. Work requires contact with governmental and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct responsibility for the work product.Essential Duties: Develops guidelines, procedures and policies for district surveying activities. Analyzes field notes to resolve land boundary conflicts. Coordinates, prioritizes and directs the work of the district survey staff (state and contracted forces). Originates, signs and seals property descriptions and oversees setting of monument property corners. Prepares reports and makes presentations. Provides guidance for staff pursuing SIT and RPLS registration. Recommends new procedures and techniques. Reviews completed surveys to ensure accuracy and adherence to required specifications. Serves on departmental or other governmental committees. May serve as a lead worker by serving as a resource for complex questions; presenting workflow and operational updates to the supervisor/manager; providing input on team membersandrsquo; career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operations coverage. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
